going hunting

in the new issue of Marie Claire that I {finally} got in the mail today was an A to Z accessory guide. on a side note, I've recently decided that it's been far too long since a fabulous pair of heels has entered my life and therefore am looking for just the right pair to add to my wardrobe. so...perfect! marie claire is filled with yummy heels this month! I've decided on a pair of Calvin Klein peep toe platforms decked out in silver grommets. check out the photo below.

the problem? I can't find them anywhere! after looking at Macy's online (where the magazine says I will find them) and several unsuccessful Google searches I am at a loss. any great ideas out there? has anyone seen these shoes?

and the shoe hunt begins...

le sigh...

the weekend has come to an abrupt halt but not before a few weekend shenanigans...don't get too excited folks, I'm talking shopping, cake making, and baby showers here.

so I finally have a Saturday off and decided obviously it called for some shopping, being that it's been a solid month since my last spending spree. I dropped by Neiman Marcus Last Call and to my surprise there was an awesome sale in the works. I'm talking Tory Burch, Alice and Olivia,Marchesa...you name it at insane prices. feast your eyes on the Cynthia Steffe number I got for $38....yeah you read that right! it's not the best picture but it's all I've got.

if only my paycheck was large enough to afford me a few more of those great deals.

cake making and baby showers followed. I made the cake for Cayce's baby shower this weekend, and after hours of gum paste flowers that ended up cracking I went with real flowers. it turned out alright. not the best work of my life but from what I hear it tasted good so that's really the goal here right? check it out below.

ps. I realize that yet again I've gone a week without a single post. bad kim. I'm making a mid year resolution to stop doing that.

tasty tidbits

usually my Sunday is filled with grocery shopping, house cleaning, and other sorts of wild and crazy fun, but today I got side tracked and didn't quite make it to the store. it's my belief that Sunday's should always be filled with delicious home cooked meals, simply because I figure you're off of work, hanging around the house with plenty of time to come up with something tasty....you might as well do it.

I decided I wanted a grilled cheese tonight, but the average cheese and bread combo wasn't doing it for me so I decided to get creative. below you will find the recipe for the "adult" grilled cheese I made this evening. some of it sounds weird but trust me folks it's delicious.

you will need:

*2 slices of bread of any sort ( I went with white because it's all I had but I imagine that sourdough would be tasty)
*2 thick slices of cheddar cheese
*white onion
*1 jalapeno
*dijon mustard
*butter
*parmesan cheese

slice and saute the onion and jalapeno together. butter one side of each bread slice and then dip that side in parmesan cheese (bear with me folks this actually works). spread dijon mustard on the inside of one bread slice and pile on the rest of the ingredients (cheese, onion, jalapeno).

grill and eat!

wish I had a picture because it turns out looking fabulous. obviously you can change up the ingredients as you see fit. as it turns out there are tons of ways to make a great grilled cheese. ENJOY!

necessary objects

I've been a little short on the moolah lately so to feed my shopping addiction I've been doing quite a bit of "window shopping" online. I've made a list of a few things I think everyone should be aware of:

1) Botiker at Gilt.com today! (I know it's a little late to be announcing this but I'm still excited). I'm absolutely loving the Elena Platform. not usually a huge platform girl myself but in teal these heels are to die for.

2)Nordstrom's anniversary sale starts July 17th! tons of clothes, shoes, and accessories to be had. could definitely make a major dent in your funds.

3)Nancy Rose at ideeli.com. now I'm not totally familiar with this designer but I will say that there are some great pieces at unbelievable prices. I mean, $25 for a $250 top?!

4)Karl Lagerfeld unveiled the Chanel  2010 Cruise Collection in Venice recently and I'm loving it. a lot of it has a retro 20's feel and I'm diggin it **sigh** if only...

dear friday, please hurry up and get here with my paycheck. i promise not to spend it all in one place.

i suck.

I got a slap on the hand from my mom yesterday because I haven't updated the blog in awhile. work + no weekends off + late resident parties= no blog updates. I promise to try not to miss such a long period of time from now on. to make up for it...please enjoy a two part (maybe three?!) blog entry for today.

Random Ramblings

so my mom informs me yesterday that my new glamour has arrived, which sadly is sometimes the highlight of my month (along with Vogue, In Style, Marie Claire, and Cosmo). during my lunch break I scurried over to her house to pick it up and what do I see? Taylor Swift on the front cover. what is she like 15? if I'm not mistaken Glamour is a women's magazine. what fashion, relationship, makeup advice could you possible offer me? was it not bad enough to throw Miley Cyrus on your May cover Glamour? who's next, Dakota Fanning or better yet, Suri Cruise?

Miley and Taylor, I get it. you're all cute and have pretty hair and big voices but please stay off of my fashion mags. I'm fairly uninterested in your cool converse sneaks and the all important relationship advice you offer me (knowledge you no doubt acquired during one of your 3 week relationships with a Jonas brother). you have an endless list of tween literature to dominate...please stay there.
