Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano has a flare for the dramatic, and while the Project Runway Alumni certainly didn't disappoint on that end, I was rather pleasantly surprised to see sleek and simple maxi skirts paired with t-shirts on the runway as well. This collection as a whole was definitely the best he's put out to date, and it already has me excited to see where he goes next. Tulle made a big showing on cockail dresses and evening gowns alike, in bright colors like lime green and vibrant oranges. and yellows. Wide leg crepe pants and trumpet skirts paired again with simple tees, and cape blouses with red and neon silk pants created the perfect casual chic look. The true key looks here were the silky maxis and t-shirts, but the stars of the show were the oppulant tulle laden gowns, which brought the drama that Siriano is so well known for.

Now, must figure out how to get one (or all!) of those maxis into my closet...

Jill Stuart

Short suits and sheer drop waist dresses with scalloped hemlines in bubblegum pinks, citron yellows and powder blues ruled the Jill Stuart runway, which made for a whimsical, feminine collection, that any woman would love to sport for spring. Pops of red made an appearance, proving that this trend will be one that lasts well through this fall and into 2012. Stuart created texture with boxy quilted blazers, and heavy silks dresses and jackets with puckered coverlets. While for the most part, the pieces were solid colors, there were a few adorable prints thrown in, including palm trees and adorable little birds.

Cynthia Rowley RTW

At the Cynthia Rowley show, models strutted down a mirrored runway, which was a perfect contrast to the flashy, distorted floral prints that were splashed over asian-inspired dresses, slim fit pants, and boxy blazers. Perforated mesh skirts and dresses paired with laser cut detailing and gold embelishments (down to the shoes) made for an incredibly modern collection - although many of the feminine silhouettes added a touch of vintage to some of the looks. Though this collection is certainly not for the wallflowers, much of it is totally wearable, which we all know cannot be said about all runway looks.
